Rotary Club of Tillsonburg - Duck Race Rules & Regulations

1. The Duck Race is produced by the Rotary Club of Tillsonburg, Ontario.

2. A maximum of 1,000 ducks will be entered in the duck race. Chances of winning depend on the total number of qualified (paid) entries.

3. All ducks entered are and shall remain under the auspices of the Tillsonburg Rotary Club. Once the ducks are launched, they are on their own. No attempt to free or interfere with any duck is permitted, unless deemed necessary by the race committee.

4. The Duck Race will start on Saturday, May 24th at approximately 11 am. The racecourse will be established by the race committee. The Duck Race reserves the right to postpone or reschedule the derby or to determine the winners by random drawing in the event of inclement weather, Acts of God, or other circumstances beyond the Producer's control.

5. On the bottom of each duck there will be duck number. The individual names associated with the numbers on the designated 1st, 2nd and 3rd ducks plucked or collected by the Rotary Club of Tillsonburg at the finish line will be awarded prizes. Positive identification will be required to claim any prize(s). Winners will be notified either by phone or via email and must pick up their prize from the Producer by June 15th 2025.

If the raffle lottery has been conducted and the Rotary Club of Tillsonburg is unable to find the holder of the winning ticket(s) there will be every reasonable effort to contact the winner, including:

     • attempting to locate the winner through the telephone number and address on the ticket stub of the raffle ticket kept by the Rotary Club of Tillsonburg, by sending a registered letter and telephoning; and

     • advertising in local newspapers and/or radio stations within 120 days following the draw, setting out a complete list of the names and city of residence of all the winners of any unclaimed prizes.

The Rotary Club of Tillsonburg will keep records of the attempts made to contact the winner, as part of the documentation retained under the terms and conditions of the licence.

The unclaimed prize will be held in trust by the Rotary Club of Tillsonburg for a period not less than six (6) months from the date the prize was awarded. At the end of the six-month period, the total amount of the prize held in trust and must be included by the licensee in the gross proceeds of the lottery event.

6. A copy of the Rules and Regulations, a list of Prizes and, after the event, a list of Prize Winners will be posted on the Rotary Club of Tillsonburg website.

7. Ticket sales of duck entries received through the mail after closing of entries on May 23th at 5 pm EST will be considered a donation to the Rotary Club of Tillsonburg and not an entry into the duck race. Entrants assume the risk of non-delivery of any entries to the Producer. Ducks may be adopted in person at the event booth up until the time the Producer deems appropriate before the start of the derby or until all available ducks have been adopted (paid for).

8. No cash equivalent prizes or exchanges will be provided in lieu of the designated prizes. By entering, the entrants release the Producers, their officers, directors, volunteers, staff, sponsors, and other related entities from any and all liability with respect to the prizes. By entering, winners consent to the promotional use of their names and likenesses without any additional compensation.

9. The winner of any prize must be over 18 years of age however, if the prize winner is under the age of 18, a parent or guardian may claim the prize on their behalf. Winner need not be present to win.

10. Winners will be announced following the Duck Race. Winners will also, where necessary, be notified by telephone or email. If a winner does not claim his/her prize within 30 days of the event date, or if the Presenter is unable to contact a winner due to insufficient or illegible contact information, or if a winner is deemed ineligible to win a prize, Producer will select a substitute winner by random drawing of entry tickets. All prizes will be awarded.

11. All decisions and interpretations of rules and regulations will be made by the Duck Race Committee and its judgment is final.

12. In case of bad weather or unforeseen circumstances preventing the running of the race, ducks will be selected randomly, and winners will be notified by telephone or email.

14. This event is subject to all provincial and municipal laws and regulations.

15. The Rotary Duck Race Festival and its logo are property of the Producer and no other person or entity is authorized to copy or otherwise use them without the Producer’s express written consent.

  1. How many tickets are available for sale?
    There are 1,000 tickets available for sale.
  2. Are spectators welcome?
    Yes. The ducks are scheduled to be released 11am on May 24th, 2025 at The Mill Restaurant and Inn located at 20 John Pound Rd, Tillsonburg. Parking is limited and check back on this site for any updates to parking locations.
  3. Can I request a specific ticket number?
    No. Ticket numbers are computer-generated in ascending order starting at a pre-determined number.
  4. What if the event is cancelled due to inclement weather?
    In the unfortunate event the ducks cannot be released as planned, we will be using a random number generator to determine the winning tickets.
  5. What are the odds of winning?
    Chances are 1 in 1,000 (total tickets for sale) to win a prize. Actual odds depend on number of tickets sold.
